A Playground for Experimentation

Some of the best thinking doesn’t happen at a desk.

It happens when imagination, curiosity, playfulness and spontaneity are given room to lead, with a clear intention underneath.

That’s what The Creatist Lab is for.
A space to explore, experiment and experience together. To step outside familiar ways of thinking, look at a challenge from a different angle, and see what becomes possible when we stop trying to find the answer straight away.

The format can change depending on what’s needed: a breathwork session that shifts how the body feels before the mind thinks differently, a workshop exploring the future of work before it becomes strategy, Archetypes of Change to give a team a new language for a real challenge, or simply a dinner, because good ideas don’t only happen in workshop rooms.

Sessions can happen in one room or across locations, bringing together people from different parts of the world just as easily as from across the table.

Whatever the format, this is the principle: serious questions, held lightly enough for something genuinely new to emerge.

Hello! I'm Mireia

12+ years of experience as a researcher, working across industries, from tech and startups to public institutions and global organisations, to understand people’s needs, motivations and behaviours, and the evolution of those to inform innovation processes, and translate them into strategy, organisational direction and better services.

I’ve led complex international research projects and multicultural teams, providing direction for the launch and development of high-impact services, while building and mentoring professionals along the way. Think French National Railway, BBC, N26, British Science Association, Nature Publishing, among many others.

Alongside this, I teach at Tech, Design and Business Schools, speak at events, and design and run programmes for leaders and teams navigating change. I’m also a certified coach, trained in Buddhist meditation and a conscious connected breathwork facilitator, practices that inform the more embodied, reflective and experiential dimensions of my work. I’ve also been one of the founding members of the Brighton Wellness Community.

Through this work, I support people make sense of transitions, rethink how they work, and develop more intentional, sustainable ways of working and leading in complex environments.

Based in Barcelona, working worldwide.

What can happen in The Lab?

Serious work can still be fun. Bringing lightness to complexity isn’t a distraction from the difficulty,
it’s often what makes the outcome more innovative, more creative, and more valuable.

The Lab is useful when the usual way of approaching a question isn’t quite enough.

When you need to:

  • See a familiar challenge differently
  • Create new perspectives before making a decision
  • Explore possibilities that don’t yet have a name
  • Reconnect people through shared experience
  • Give a team a new language for something difficult to articulate
  • Imagine the future before turning it into a plan
  • Create the conditions for more open, unexpected conversations

Sometimes the outcome is an idea, other times a new question, or a shift in how people see themselves,
each other or the challenge in front of them.

The Lab makes space for those shifts to happen

This is how it can look like

Re-thinking Work

An exploration created with a coworking and creative hub and a platform supporting artistic and creative disciplines and professionals.

What happens when the way we work is no longer aligned with who we are?

Professional disengagement, burnout and dissatisfaction are increasingly shaping the experience of work. For people working in creative fields, the tension can be particularly strong.

The Lab:

Rather than approaching the question through conventional career frameworks, we created an afternoon to explore it from different angles.

We used symbolism, Tarot, Astrology, reflective prompts and the Futures Cone as tools for opening up new perspectives, as provocations for reflection, imagination and possibility.

The experience invited participants to look at their innate talents differently, recognise patterns in what gives them energy and meaning, and imagine possible directions for bringing those qualities more consciously into their professional lives.

What openned up:

The aim was to create enough distance from the familiar to see work, talent and purpose differently, and to begin imagining paths that might not have been visible before.

A serious question, explored through unconventional means, to make space for a different kind of answer.

Exploring the Impact of AI in Universities

A day of exploration bringing together university lecturers, professors, researchers and experts to examine how AI is changing education and what it asks us to rethink.

AI is changing the relationship between knowledge, learning and work at a pace that universities are struggling to keep up with.

If AI changes how knowledge is created, accessed and demonstrated, what does it mean to learn and how should universities measure progress?

The Lab:

As part of a day dedicated to AI and its impact on education and work, we co-organised and facilitated a series of workshops bringing educators into the conversation.

Alongside panels with experts and researchers sharing their investigations, conclusions and forecasts, the workshops created space to step away from the immediate anxiety around AI and explore the questions underneath it.

What openned up:

The conversations shifted the focus from “How do we prevent AI from disrupting education?” to a broader exploration of “What should education become because of it?”

Re-thinking Leadership

A series of experiential sessions created in collaboration with a space focused on Tech, Art and Wellness, for professionals in leadership positions exploring new ways of leading through uncertainty and change.

Leadership today comes with increasing levels of pressure, stress and burnout, particularly in senior roles. At the same time, the complexity and pace of change are calling for new approaches to how we lead, make decisions and navigate uncertainty, as well as new definitions of what success can look like.

The Lab:
We created a space to explore leadership from the inside out. Through practical and experiential tools across mindset, embodiment, somatics and intuition, participants were invited to step out of habitual ways of responding and explore what it means to lead with greater self-awareness, authenticity and presence.

The sessions connected inner development with the realities of leadership, exploring not only how we think and act, but how we show up, relate to others and respond when things become uncertain or difficult.

The outcome:
A broader perspective on leadership, grounded in the idea that sustainable ways of leading start with the person doing the leading. Participants explored new ways of responding to challenges, relating to themselves and others, and defining success in a way that feels more aligned with the world we are navigating.

Because new ways of leading often begin with changing the way we relate to ourselves.

Supporting Indigenous Women in Oaxaca

A series of workshops co-created with a local NGO and a design professional, supporting women from indigenous communities living in a marginalised area of Oaxaca City.

Many of the women supported by the NGO had moved to the city from indigenous communities in the region in search of work, often after difficult or abusive circumstances.

While they carry rich cultural knowledge, skills and indigenous wisdom, language barriers and economic dependency can make it difficult to recognise and build on their own resources.

The Lab:
We co-created a series of workshops using creative expression, playfulness, self-reflection and somatic practices to create a different kind of space for exploration.

Rather than focusing only on the challenges they faced, the sessions invited participants to recognise their own talents, knowledge, strengths and resources, and to explore how these could become a starting point for imagining new possibilities.

The outcome:
The workshops became a complementary space to the NGO’s ongoing work, helping participants reconnect with what they already carry and begin identifying possible paths forward.

Sometimes creating the space to see what is already within us can be the first step towards seeing what is possible.

A different kind of retreat in Bali

A week-long experience for senior leaders to explore more grounded, conscious and creative ways of leading, thinking and creating with a deeper sense of reciprocity.

Rather than creating another idealised retreat experience, we wanted to explore leadership through a deeper connection with Bali, the actual reality of its people, culture, everyday rituals, relationship with nature and the realities of life on the island beyond the tourist perspective.

The Lab:
Through creative expression, time in nature, reflection and involvement with local communities and ways of living, participants were invited to reconnect with their own inner wisdom while seeing the island beyond its touristy image.

The experience created space to question stablished ideas while learning from a culture where community, ritual, nature and everyday life are deeply interconnected.

Alongside this, participants explored real challenges and opportunities, developing ideas for innovative solutions that could contribute positively to the world around them.

The outcome:
A different kind of leadership experience that connected inner development with a greater awareness of place, culture and responsibility.

Because creating a different future requires not only new ideas, but new ways of seeing the world we are creating for

Field trips in Singapore and Seoul

Immersive explorations in Singapore and Seoul, designed to uncover unexpected inspiration and translate it into new ideas and solutions for specific audiences.

When innovation happens within the same environments, industries and references, it’s easy to keep solving problems in familiar ways. The challenge was to find new sources of inspiration and bring different perspectives into the creative process.

The Lab:
We designed field trips that took participants into the living realities of the place, exploring local businesses, communities, design, culture, technology and everyday experiences.

Together, we unpacked the ideas, behaviours and cultural shifts behind these experiences, exploring what they could become, where they might lead, and what they could mean in other contexts.

We then translated these observations and possibilities into tangible ideas for specific audiences and challenges, moving between inspiration, experimentation and strategic thinking.

The outcome:
A process that moves from observation to insight, from insight to possibility, and from possibility to action, having the place as a living laboratory to uncover new perspectives and imagine solutions that might not emerge in the usual context.

Sometimes the best way to imagine what’s next is to look somewhere completely different.
